Male Breast or you can say it Gynaecomastia is the abnormal development in male chest area. This is common men problem in these days. It seems very unusual and funny too. But it is not funny for the person who having this problem. Male breast (Gynaecomastia) affects more than 42% of men around the world. And for most men, this is an uncomfortable and embarrassing experience, because in the chest area some resistant fat may also get deposited giving the appearance of a female like breast. So mostly, man who affected by Male breast (Gynaecomastia) won’t like to be bare body in front of others.

Male breast is because of an imbalance between male hormone Androgen and female hormone Oestrogen activity. The hormonal imbalance that results in the deposition of glands in the chest areas is usually temporary and commonly occurs in boys at middle of teenage.

There is some more reason for the development of male breasts. Commonly, using of steroids for body building, abuse of alcohol, medications contain female hormone estrogen, sudden weight gain, liver function impairment, obesity and so..

Approximately 4 to 10% cases of male breast (Gynaecomastia) are due to drugs. Spironolactone (Aldactone) is a common cause, inducing male breast (Gynaecomastia) in 10% of those receiving it as a treatment for heart failure. Both Digoxin and Furosemide are also reported to cause the same condition. Although, chances of male breast could be more if these two drugs are coadministered. Breast prominence can result from hypertrophy of breast tissue, chest adipose tissue (fat) and skin, and is typically a combination. Breast prominence due solely to excessive adipose is often termed pseudogynecomastia or sometimes lipomastia.
